The Angels Take Manhattan: SPN version

• Sam: ..Uh, up!
• Dean: What good's up?
• Sam: Better than down, maybe?
•  ---
• Sam: Holy cr-
• Dean: (over Sam) It was on my to-do list to visit the Statue of Liberty.. I guess she wanted to see me more, huh Sam? (thinks for a second, and runs to the edge)
• Sam: Dean? What is it?!
• Dean: Just keep your eyes on that thing, you hear me?
•  (looks down to the street)
• Sam: Well? Is there a way down?
• Dean: ..No.. But, uh.. There's.. There's a way out. (begins to climb onto the edge)
• Sam: (looking at the Statue) ..What're you doing?
• Dean: (stumbles climbing on) C-rap-!
• Sam: Dean. What are you doing..? (slightly worried, turns around to see Dean)
• Sam: Dean! Get the hell down, you'll die!
• Dean: (smiling weakly) Yeah, on the same night, on the same building. Who else could say they've done that, huh? (laughs nervously)
• Sam: Please, just get down-
• Dean: It's what I gotta do! This'll do the trick, right? If I die now, it's a Back to the Future kinda paradox, right? It'll kill those winged statue dicks; tell me I'm wrong.
• Sam: (silent, looking up at his brother)
• Dean: (whimpering) ..Go on, please, because I'm really damn scared right now, Sammy. (gulps slowly, eyes watering)
• Sam: (looks Dean up and down)
• Dean: ..Huh. The one time you can't do it. (stumbles back)
• Sam: (catches his jacket)
• Dean: Sammy, I'm gonna.. (takes his brother's hand) Need a little bit of help here.. (puts Sam's hand on his shirt, holding it under his. He lets go to spread his arms, and Sam grips it tightly)
• Sam: Just stop it! (angry)
• Dean: Think about it Sam, this will work! This will kill those friggin' statues!
• Sam: (shocked) Dean, you son of a bitch, it'll kill you too!
• Dean: Will it? Cas said this place will be erased from time or somethin', never existed - if it never existed what the hell did I fall off, huh?!
• Sam: You think you're gonna just come back to damn life?!
• Dean: I always do! I-
• Sam: DEAN! You-
• Dean: What else do we have anyway? (gulps, voice becoming thick) Dyin' of old age, never seein' you again? ..Sam, please. If.. If you love me, your brother, then just trust me, this /one/ time, and push. (holds his arms out, spread again)
• Sam: (gritted teeth, teary-eyed. Thinks about it for a few moments, looking at Dean) ..I can't.
• Dean: YOU HAVE TO-!
• Sam: Could you do it!? If it was me, could you push me off a damn building?
• Dean: (scoffs) ..To save you.. (looks down at Sam) I do just about anything, Sammy.
• Sam: (a tear rolls down his cheek. He lefts go of Dean's shirt, walks to the left of him and gets up on the building's edge) ..Prove it, hm?
• Dean: C'mon Sam, I can't take you as well!
• Sam: You said we'd come back to life, huh? ...Money-where-your-mouth-is time, I guess.
• Dean: Sammy, you-
• Sam: Shut /up/, Dean! (holds a hand out) C'mon man.. You jump, I jump.
• Dean: (smiles weakly) 'Promise me you'll never let go, Jack?' (raises an eyebrow, smiling up at his brother, taking his hand and entwining their fingers)
• Bobby: (climbs up the fire escape) What in the holy hell are you boys doin'?!
• Sam: Avoidin' destiny. The Apocalypse all over again. (looking at Dean)
• Dean: (Squeezes Sam's hand, they both face outwards, still looking at eachother)
• Sam: ...It's called bein' family.
• Bobby, Cas: (runs to the edge)
• Bobby: SAM!
• Cas: DEAN!
•  (Sam and Dean jump, hand in hand, they pull each other into a hug as they shed a tear)
• Castiel: (turns around, the building lighting up) Bobby! What's happening?
• Bobby: The paradox - Well I'll be damned to Hell and back, it's workin'!
•  ---
• Sam, Dean: (sit up, spitting out a little blood, coughing)
• Sam: Where are we?
• Bobby: (walks up to them) Back where we started, the timeline broke, we all showed up where we belong! (smiles at the boys)
• Sam: (stands up, wiping his mouth) In a.. Graveyard?
• Dean: (stands up too) Yeah, Bobby, this happened before, why are we with the dead?
• Bobby: Does it look like I give a damn? We got lucky, fellas! (sighs happily) I coulda lost the both of ya. (pats their backs) Don't you ever go pullin' a stunt like that again, ya hear?
• Sam: But we solved it, Bobby, we fixed it!
• Bobby: (sighs again, ignoring Sam's comment) Come on, let's high tail outta here.
• Castiel: (examining Bobby's car confusedly) .. I think it needs a repaint.
• Bobby: Well I been busy, ain't I? (pulls out a beer)
• Castiel: Does one of the rear lights need to be changed?
• Bobby: I changed it a week back, if you're so damn interested.
• Castiel: So. Dean and Sam-
• Bobby: Yeah yeah.. (takes a swig, leaning against the hood)
• Castiel: I was just pointing it out.. (looks away) They're going to get terribly bored staying here.
• Sam: (walking up with Dean) Bobby! Next time, why don't we just go to a bar?
• Bobby: We can get ourselves to a bar right about now. I could do with some o' the good stuff.
• Castiel: Would this be known as a family outing, then?
• Dean, Bobby, Cas: (walks over to Bobby's car)
• Sam: (stays behind, looks around, hands in pockets. Spots something and walks over to it.) ...Hey Dean?
• Dean: (walks halfway over) Yeah?
• Sam: Some guy buried here has the same name as me. (gestures to it)
• Dean: ..Hold up, what? (walks to meet Sam)
• Sam: (stays for a minute, and gets zapped by an angel)
• Dean: ..SAM?!
• Castiel: (walks over) Where did that come from?
• Bobby: It musta survived. Must be worn out, though. You keep lookin' at it!
• Dean: ..Where's Sam. (sounds more like a demand than a question)
• Bobby: (walks closer to the statue) ..Dean, I'm sorry, but Sam's gone.
• Dean: ..No.. (chuckles icily, shaking his head) ..We can just go back in time and get him, right? Another paradox should-
• Bobby: We'd blow half of America off the damn planet, Dean.
• Dean: ...I don't believe you.
• Castiel: (from behind) Dean, it's true.
• Dean: (stops arguing when he hears Cas. He steps closer, staring at the angel)
• Bobby: Dean what the hell do you think you're doin'?
• Dean: ..That grave, there's room for another name, right?
• Bobby: The hell you talkin' about? Get back from that thing, come on back to my place, we'll think of somethin'-
• Dean: (gruffly) The angel, will it send me back to Sam? Send me back to the same time as him?
• Bobby: I don't know! I- I don't - nobody-
• Dean: (sniffs) But it's the best chance I got?
• Bobby: (panicking) No it ain't you /jacka-/
• Castiel: Bobby, shut up! It is, Dean!
• Dean: (laughs, sniffs) Well then.. I just gotta blink, yeah?
• Bobby: Dean I swear-!
• Dean: It'll all be alright, Bobby, I'll be with Sam, like I should be, right? I gotta protect my baby brother. Me and Sam, together.
• Dean: (head turns, eyes still on the statue)..Cas- Castiel?
• Castiel: (walks up to Dean, placing a hand on his shoulder, squeezing tightly)
• Dean: You look after Bobby, you hear?
• Bobby: Once you go, Dean, I can't go and get'cha. I'll never see ya again!
• Dean: (a tear rolls down his face) I'll be just fine, Bobby, you watch, because Sam will be with me.
• Bobby: Please, just come on back to my place.. Dean, please!
• Dean: (gulps, sobs a little, then plasters on a smile) I'll see you around, Bobby.
• Dean: (turns around, gets zapped)
•  ---
• Castiel: (in the back of Bobby's car, driving back to Sioux Falls) Bobby.. They were like your sons, and you their father. I apologise for encouraging Dean to leave you.
• Bobby: (his hands tighten around the steering wheel) ..It dun' matter now.
• Castiel: (mumbles, looking out of the window at the sky) Of course it matters.
• Bobby: (looks in the rear view mirror, catching Cas' gaze) This is what matters, Cas. You can't be by yourself now that those boys are in the nineteen-o-splashes. You're no good to anybody like that.
• Castiel: (silent for a moment) ..I suppose could help you with some hunts then.
• Bobby: O'course. I'll call for ya if I never need ya, and you better come to me for help, too. But we're both a bit psycho, so let's keep it to a minimum, shall we?
• Castiel: (sighs, looks down. He is grieving over the loss of Dean and Sam. He wipes his face with his trench coat sleeve quickly)
•  (more silence for a few moments)
• Bobby: ...Alright, this book Sam and Dean's great-grand-daddy gotta write, I take it he sends it to ol' Dean to get it published?
• Castiel: (wipes his eyes again) ..Yes, I suppose.
• Bobby: .. Maybe I'll find a time-travel spell to bring 'im here and I'll tell 'im to get Dean write an afterword 'fore he goes back, then, just for you. Maybe you'll listen to him. (pulls up in his garage, gets out of the car. Castiel gets out too, leaning against the closed door for a moment)
• Castiel: (widens eyes) ..The book! (transports straight back to Central Park)
•  (Castiel turns around frantically, spotting the Impala and running to it. He opens the door, it creaks, and he pulls out a book. He closes the door again and leans against it, opening it to the last page, and begins to read).
•  (Dean's voice)
•  Afterword, by Dean Winchester.
•  Hey, angel. Well whadd'ya know, me and you, on the last page of a book, huh? Never thought it'd end like this.
•  By the time you get around to readin' this, me and Sam will be six feet under a long time.
•  I think you should know that we had a nice, non-hunting life, and we were happy for once.
•  And, after everythin' we've been through, know that.. Alright, this is gonna sound sappy and girly, but..
•  Know that we do care 'bout you, okay? We can't thank you enough for doin' everything you did. You rebelled, you died, you saved us more time's'n we can count.
•  Sometimes though, I worry about you. I think, once me and Sam are gone, I won't be seeing you again for a long time, even if by some miracle I get into Heaven.
•  And you're gonna be alone, which you shouldn't ever be.
•  Don't ever be alone, Cas.
•  And do another thing. For me.
•  There's a little guy in Lawrence, Kansas, and he just pulled his baby brother out of a house fire. He doesn't know what sorta crapis comin' for him, and he's gonna have to be one hell of a guy to get though it all and come out the other side.
•  Think you could pop back and keep an eye on him? Just like his mom used to say, let him know that angels really are watchin' over him.
•  And never thanked you enough for pulling me out of my Hell. Thank you, Castiel.
•  Maybe it might sound a bit sappy, but thank you for puttin' me back together when I broke into tiny pieces, even though you kinda cut yourself and scarred yourself like hell in the process.
•  I love you.
•  See you in Heaven, Cas.
